My Favourite Digital Cameras of 2004

(a.k.a Christmas shopping guide) I pick my favourite digital cameras of 2004. Digital cameras that I would very happily buy with my own money! All of these first 4 digital cameras record videos with sound, and offer excellent image quality, features and value for money.


1. Olympus Mju Mini Digital - this is an excellent 4 megapixel, 2x optical zoom digital camera wrapped up in a gorgeous mini body with six colours to suit your taste. Extremely compact, extremely stylish, this camera has real "WOW!" factor. This camera is a real joy to use, and has an excellent 1.8" TFT.

2. Panasonic Lumix FX7 - this is an extremely stylish, capable compact 5 megapixel digital camera with a 3x Leica optical zoom lens. What makes it stand out even more is the massive 2.5" TFT screen on the back, and Panasonic's built in "Mega" Optical Image Stabilisation. Available in 4 different colours.

3. Canon Powershot A300 / A400 - back in March when I reviewed the Canon A300 the 3mp digital camera with no optical zoom was £125 from Amazon, now the update, a smaller, more stylish 3mp A400 with a 2x optical zoom is only £110 from Amazon. This represents excellent value for money as one of Canon's cheapest, but still extremely capable, digital cameras.

4. Olympus Camedia C-765 Ultra Zoom - this 4 megapixel digital camera has a whopping 10x optical zoom lens, and is currently the world's smallest digital camera with a 10x optical zoom. Image quality is excellent, and this camera is excellent value for money.

The Sony Cybershot P73, a 4mp digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens, available in Silver and Blue for £154 from Amazon.co.uk
