Canon Powershot A2000 IS - the 10 megapixel camera is an update to the A720 IS and features a 6x optical zoom with optical IS, 17 shooting modes including Easy Mode, Face Detection Technology, Auto Red-Eye Correction, Motion Detection Technology, 3” LCD, it takes AA batteries and is available for £155. Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS / SD990 IS - Canon's new compact 14.7 megapixel camera it features a 3.7x optical zoom, optical IS, 2.5" screen, optical viewfinder, manual controls, VGA video recording, and will be available in silver or black for £269. Recommended (25/10/08)
Canon EOS 450D / Digital Rebel XSi - a 12.2 megapixel update to the 400D Digital SLR - it features 3.5fps shooting, live view shooting, 9 point AF, 3" screen, SD memory card support, and Canon's dust reduction system. The 450D Body only is priced at £429, the EOS 450D with 18-55mm IS kit is £449. Highly Recommended (21/08/08)
Canon Powershot A590 IS - features an 8 megapixel sensor, 4x optical zoom lens, 2.5" screen, face detection focus, and takes AA batteries - but adds full manual controls, support for optional lens accessories, and optical image stabilisation. The A590 is available for £112 making it the cheapest Canon available with optical image stabilisation. Recommended (28/06/08)
Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS / Powershot SD790 IS - the ultra compact camera features a 10 megapixel sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, a 3" screen, and the battery life is rated at 330 shots. The IXUS 90 IS is available for £205. Recommended (04/05/08)
Canon Powershot SX100 IS - the 8 megapixel camera features a 10x optical zoom lens with image stabilisation, a 2.5" screen, DIGIC III processor, 1cm macro mode, pop-up flash, manual controls, and ISO upto 1600. The SX100 is available for £149. Highly Recommended (30/03/08)

Canon Digital IXUS 70 / SD1000 - a retro looking ultra-compact digital camera with a 7 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.5" screen, and DIGIC III image processor. This is the thinnest IXUS ever measuring 19.4mm thick. The camera is available for £175 in Silver or Black. Recommended (10/04/07)
Canon Digital IXUS i7 Zoom SD40 - the Canon Powershot SD40 / Canon Digital IXUS i7 Zoom is one of the smallest Canon Digital IXUS cameras, and is available in four different colours: Pink, Blue, Silver, and Sepia. The IXUS i7 Zoom is a 7.1 megapixel digital camera with a 1.8" screen, and a 2.4x optical zoom lens. The 2.4x optical zoom lens is equivalent to 38 – 90 mm on a 35mm camera. Recommended (12/03/07)

Canon Digital IXUS Wireless SD430 - the Canon Digital IXUS Wireless / Powershot SD430 Wireless is a Canon's first compact digital camera to feature wireless support built in - they manage to do this whilst still maintaining an ultra-compact body. Better yet the camera is fully featured with a 5 megapixel sensor, a 2" screen, an optical viewfinder, and a Canon 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to 35-105mm in film terms. Above average (29/05/06)

Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 - a budget 10 megapixel digital camera from Casio, and an update to the Casio Exilim Z1000. The Z1050 is a compact digital camera with a 10 megapixel sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens and a large widescreen 2.6" screen. The camera has the ability to take photos at upto ISO 1600, has digital anti-shake, and has a 370 shot battery life. It's available for £124. Recommended (21/08/2007)

Fujifilm FinePix F480 - The F480 is an 8 megapixel digital camera with a wide angle 4x optical zoom lens (28 - 112mm equiv) it features a 2.7" screen, digital image stabilistion, ISO upto 800, Xd / SD card support, and 320 x 240 30fps video support. The Fujifilm FinePix F480 is available in black or silver for £99.

Fujifilm FinePix F20 - a 6 megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens, ISO upto 2000, a 2.5" screen, 300 shot battery life, and (digital) picture stabilisation. It appears to be a slightly cut down version of the Fujifilm FinePix F30. The Fujifilm FinePix F20 is available for £95 from Amazon UK, or £79 from Argos, making it an excellent budget digital camera. Highly Recommended (02/07/07)
Fujifilm FinePix F40fd (aka F45fd) - it features a 3x optical zoom lens, an 8.3 megapixel Super CCD sensor with ISO upto 2000, a 2.5" screen, face-detection focus, VGA video recording, and a first for Fujifilm cameras, a the F40fd has a dual memory card slot, accepting both XD and SD memory cards. The camera battery life is rated at 300 shots and the camera is available for £168. Recommended (07/05/07)

Fujifilm FinePix S9600 S9100 - this 9 megapixel digital camera features a wide-angle 10.7x optical zoom lens, a 2" swivel screen, and black SLR styling. The camera features numerous manual modes and supports RAW images, but can it perform as well as a real Digital SLR? Available for less than £300, it's an appealling option! Recommended (03/01/2007)
Fujifilm FinePix F30 - Fuji's 6 megapixel digital camera features a 3x optical zoom lens, and a new high resolution 2.5" screen. The camera is an improvement over the infamous F10, and has impressive low light performance, great speed, and excellent battery life. Highly Recommended (26/07/2006)

Olympus Mju Stylus 770SW - the Olympus Mju 770SW "Shock and Waterproof" has some impressive features such as being freezeproof, crush proof (upto 100kg!), waterproof up to 10 metres, shock proof, and it even features a manometer so that your depth can be recorded with the image. As well as this it features a 7 megapixel sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.5" screen and an ultra compact metal body. Recommended (13/03/07)
