Lovely little device, but I agree with all the comments already made. I bought one of these to take on holiday for editing pictures direct from memory cards - bigger screen than my DX4330. There is no alternative way to recharge it other than to hook it up to your PC. I didn't want to take my PC on holiday as well so after its batteries expired I had to wait to get back to the UK and my PC to recharge it!
