Casio Exilim EX-S500 Sample Photos
DC Watch Impress have posted a number of sample photos from the new Casio Exilim EX-S500 - including test images taken at ISO400, ISO800 and ISO1600. The Casio Exilim EX-S500 was announced on the 9th of June 2005, and features a 5 megapixel sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.2" screen and an ultra slim body.

The pictures do not look very good.
I really wanted this camera but now I don't think so.
The pictures are grainy and the barrel distortion looks bad.

The barrel distorion's there as the picture was taken at wide angle, and for a wide angle it isn't exactly terrible.
The pictures do look a tad grainy though, but i'll wait and see some more pictures before i judge. It was obviously a cloudy day when they took to photos, hence the iso was up high, likely to be the source of the grain.
The camera does look damn neat thou - its just whether i get this or the ixus 50?

It's difficult to tell how noisy the pictures are from the flickr photos posted above, as it's not possible to see the full size versions - but the flickr photos tend to look quite good in my opinion, and the owner seems to be very happy with the camera.
