"Just ten months after the E-300, Olympus surprised us bringing to the market the E-500, clearly another "economy" (read: sub-$1000) model, aimed at the same market segment. In another surprise, the E-500 is an entirely new construction, mechanically at least, having a very different body layout than its predecessor. At this moment it remains unclear whether the E-300 will be discontinued now, or will both models coexist on the market for some time."
