Enough Already with the Megapixels
Dan's Data have written an interesting article on the megapixel race, and why more megapixels may leave you with a worse camera than one with less megapixels because of the additional noise from the higher resolution sensor. He uses the Konica Minolta Dimage X1 (pictured) as an example of a camera with too much noise, due to it's 8 megapixel sensor.
"And so it is with digital cameras. Lots of people assume that a camera with more megapixels must take better pictures than one with fewer. The truth can actually, quite often, be exactly the opposite. And it's getting worse."
