Photokina: Leica M8 Digital Rangefinder
Available in Black or Black and Silver, the Leica M8 is Leica’s first digital rangefinder. It features a 10 megapixel sensor, a 2.5″ screen, and has a number of lenses and accessories available for it.

Photokina: Leica Digilux 3 Digital SLR
Leica were showing their new 7.5 megapixel Leica Digilux 3 Digital SLR – like the Panasonic Lumix L1 it is quite large compared to other more rounded digital cameras.
Photokina: Pentax Compact Prototypes
Showing that Kodak aren’t the only company that has considered producing dual lens digital cameras, Pentax were showing their “Pentax Twinz” digital camera concept, the ultra compact digital camera features two lenses and the text: “Pentax Twin Zoom Lens Optical 4x Wide Zoom”. There were also showing an ultra compact digital camera with interchangable lenses, shown below.
Photokina: Pentax K10D DSLR Hands-On
Pentax were showing their new 10 megapixel Pentax K10D Digital SLR – shown here with the new 70mm “Pancake” lens. The digital SLR is one of the most fully featured DSLR’s out of all the new 10 megapixel models, featured both a “Shake Reduction” CCD sensor that works with all lenses, and a weather sealed body. It also feels the heaviest out of the new 10 megapixel cameras.
Photokina: Hasselblad H3D Announced
Hasselblad have announced the new H3D – it offers a choice of 22 or 39 megapixel images, the new camera was being demonstrated at Photokina:

The H3D has been developed around a brand new digital camera engine producing increased lens performance and a new level of image sharpness. Photokina: Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro DSLR
Fujifilm were showing and demonstrating their new 12 megapixel Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro Digital SLR.
“The FinePix S5 Pro will stand apart from the crowd by combining the much sought-after picture quality of Fujifilm’s Super CCD SR sensor with a fully digital and durable professional metal alloy body. With this superior combination of truly professional handling and image quality, Fujifilm expects the FinePix S5 Pro to appeal to an even broader range of professional photographers.”
Photokina: Praktica in Gold
Parktica were showing their top of the range 10 megapixel digital camera in Gold – the camera features a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.4″ screen and appears to be identical to the Polaroid i1032 (apart from the Gold obviously!).
Another familiar looking digital camera, the Praktica Luxmedia 6105 with a wide-angle 4.8x optical zoom lens, looks very similar to the Ricoh Caplio R1v.
Photokina: Minox DCC Leica M3 5mp
Minox were showing their new Leica M3 replica, with built in 1.5″ screen, the camera features a 3 megapixel CMOS sensor and interpolates the image to 5 megapixels. Unfortunately the battery went flat the moment we got to the display.
Photokina: Minox DC1011 Gold and Silver
Minox were showing their new top of the range 10 megapixel Minox DC1011 in Gold and Silver. The camera features a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.5″ screen, and a metal body.
Photokina: Olympus Wood Digital Camera
Olympus were showing their fully working “prototype” wooden digital camera – the model appeared to use the same 2x optical zoom lens as featured in the 5 megapixel Olympus Mju / Stylus Mini S. The camera can be made in different colours and featured a sliding on-off switch on the front.
