Canon Powershot A710 IS Review

DPReview have reviewed the new 7 megapixel Canon Powershot A710 IS - an update to the Canon Powershot A700 - the A710 IS features the same 6x optical zoom lens and 2.5" screen, ISO upto 800, takes 2 AA batteries, but upgrades the sensor to 7 megapixels and adds optical image stabilisation. Other features include a smart zoom that makes sure image quality is maintined with using digital zoom. The A710 IS is available for £208 from Amazon UK:

"Even in the 'blink and you'll miss it' world of compact digital cameras the budget-priced 6x zoom lensed Canon PowerShot A700 was a short-lived model; announced late February and replaced in August by the camera on test here, the PowerShot A710 IS. Aside from a design facelift and a few feature tweaks the biggest - and most welcome - change is that the new model adds optical image stabilization, something we bemoaned the lack of on the A700."
