“It’s a camera designed to extend Canon’s superiority in areas like autofocus and high-ISO image quality, to shore up areas of competitive weakness such as the battery system and camera configuration and to incorporate emerging features like Live View and remote camera access, but do these things better than they’ve been done before in the digital SLR arena. And while they were at it, Canon opted to increase the EOS-1D Mark III’s resolution and frame rate too, relative to the EOS-1D Mark II N it replaces.”

“The Canon Digital IXUS 70 is a wonderfully stylish ultra-compact which offers lightning-quick performance, outstanding low-light ability and a useful range of features. Value for money is also surprisingly good for what is usually an expensive brand. Its picture quality isn’t perfect, but it can produce good results under difficult circumstances. For social photography and holiday snaps it will not often disappoint.”

The L700 is available from Amazon:

“With the L700 Samsung has produced the very definition of an average 3x zoom digital compact camera. It has no real weak points apart from its poor low-light focusing and over-exposure in bright light, but little about it stands out either. It is well made, performs adequately, has all the features and options you really need and takes reasonably good pictures.”

Casio Z700Imaging Resource have reviewed the new Casio Exilim EX-Z700 – a 7 megapixel update to the Casio Exilim EX-Z600 – it features a 3x optical zoom lens, a large 2.7″ screen, and an impressive battery life of 460 shots. It is available in Gunmetal grey or Silver from £109 at Amazon. The ultra-compact camera measures: 88.5(W) x 57.0(H) x 20.5(D)mm, and weighs 112 grams:

“Though it’s not the flashiest or slimmest model on the market, the Casio EXILIM EX-Z700 has a lot going for it. With a 7.2 megapixel sensor, a fairly standard 3x zoom (38-114mm equivalent focal range), and a 2.7-inch LCD, the Casio EX-Z700 doesn’t break any new ground, but it is a good little camera.”
