Fujifilm FinePix F40Trusted Reviews have reviewed the new Fujifilm FinePix S5700 / S700 – a new ultra zoom digital camera from Fujifilm – it’s the budget model and has a higher resolution than the S5600, but sits below the S6500. It features a 10x optical zoom lens, a 7 megapixel sensor, a 2.5″ screen, XD and SD card slots, and ISO upto 1600 (to help combat image blur). The camera is available for £128.

“The Fujifilm S5700 is an amazing bargain. It has style, good performance, manual exposure options, excellent low-light ability and fantastic handling, and tops it off with good image quality. That you can get a camera this good for under £130 is simply astonishing. If I could, I would give it 11 out of 10 for value.”

DCResource have published their review of the new Olympus EVOLT E-510 DSLR, an update to the E-500, it features a new 10 megapixel live-MOS sensor, with live view, a new image processing engine “TruePic III”, dust reduction, shadow adjustment technology, and Supersonic Image Stabilizer Unit. “And don’t forget the 10 Megapixel CCD, 2.5″ live view LCD, full manual controls, and dust reduction system that the E-510 shares with its smaller sibling. Like that camera, the EVOLT E-510 does its best with a little setting tweaking. Once you’ve done that, you’ll get excellent quality photos from an SLR that arguably offers more bang for the buck than any other.”

Sigma SD14 Digital SLR Review

Sigma SD14DPExpert have posted a review of the new Sigma SD14 Digital SLR – The SD14 features a 14 megapixel Foveon x3 sensor (this captures all primary RGB colours at each and every pixel), dust protection, a 2.5″ screen, as well as RAW and JPEG support. The Sigma SD14 is available for £799 from Amazon:

“The price of the Sigma is the problem. It is more expensive than the Nikon D200 and the Canon 30D. Happy Sigma owners argue that the image quality from the Foveon sensor is so superior to the conventional CCD/CMOS that the price is justified. We did a crude subjective comparison with a Nikon D80 (10 megapixels) and concluded that the Sigma has better edge definition without any nasty sharpening artefacts and therefore has more apparent resolved detail. The Nikon colour was more accurate, although inclining to cold. The Sigma was warm, which is an attractive distortion, but a distortion nonetheless.”

Canon EOS 1D Mark III DSLR Review

Canon EOS 1D Mk IIIDPExpert have reviewed the new Canon EOS 1D MKIII – the 10 megapixel Digital SLR features 3″ screen with live view mode, ISO upto 3200 (expandable to 6400), 10 fps continuous shooting for up to 110 frames, EOS Integrated Cleaning System, Dual “DIGIC III” processors:

“The EOS-1D Mark III is a professional tool for photojournalists. For well-heeled amateurs who want top quality images the Canon 5D ($5000 for the body) will do the job with its 12 megapixels on a full 35 mm frame size sensor. The extra $1600 for the 1D buys extra battery power delivering 2200 shots between charges and the blazing capture speed but not necessarily better images.”
