Top 10 Digital Camera Hits of 2007
With another year over, we take a look at the 10 most popular digital cameras reviewed on this site. Here's the top 10 most read digital camera reviews from 2007, with a breakdown on what makes them special. Why not leave a comment letting us know your favourite digital camera of 2007, and why you think it's so great?
1 - Fujifilm FinePix S9600 S9100 - Fuji's digital camera proves you don't have to be a DSLR to be popular, but looking like one, and offering a powerful wide angle 10.7x optical zoom lens with manual controls sure helps. Especially when this costs less than half the price of a basic 10 megapixel Digital SLR. Available for £202 from Amazon.
2 - Fujifilm FinePix F30 - Fuji showed us that less equals more, by putting a slightly larger 6 megapixel sensor in this camera, and using Fuji's SuperCCD technology, they were able to offer great low light performance, and low noise at nearly all ISO settings. No longer available, but see below for it's replacement.
3 - Ricoh Caplio R5 - Ricoh broke the mold by providing a wide angle 7.1x optical zoom lens, in an ultra compact camera, while the rest of the manufacturers were still only giving us a bog standard 3x optical zoom lens. Available for £144 from Amazon.

4 - Fujifilm FinePix F40fd - Fuji upped the megapixels to 8, and made this camera smaller and more stylish than the F30, and we're still wondering whether it's as good as the F30, however, the price definitely makes this camera appealling, especially when the F30 is no longer available. Available for £106 at Amazon.
5 - Canon Digital IXUS 850 IS - Canon provided a wide angle 3.8x lens, optical image stabilisation, in a cute compact body, and also produced great image quality, making this a winner all round, the only problem was the high price when first released. Replaced by the Canon IXUS 860 IS.
6 - Canon Digital IXUS 70 SD1000 - Canon made the smallest IXUS camera yet, and still packed in a 7 megapixel sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a 2.5" screen, all in a stylish body. The price is good as well, being one of the cheapest IXUS cameras available, only £126 from Amazon.
7 - Panasonic Lumix FX30 - a compact 7 megapixel digital camera with a wide angle 3.6x optical zoom lens, image stabilisation, and a 2.5" screen, made this an appealling camera, especially when it was much cheaper than most of the competition. Available for £148 from Amazon.
8 - Panasonic Lumix TZ1 - when this camera was released it was the world's smallest digital camera with a 10x optical zoom lens - it also took great photos, and fit in your pocket. It's now been replaced by the Panasonic Lumix TZ3.
9 - Sony Ericsson K800i - when this mobile phone was released it had a 3 megapixel Sony "Cybershot" digital camera - the first "Cybershot" on a mobile phone. But more importantly, it had a proper flash, which meant it was able to take photos of people indoors, something most mobile phones still cant do properly, I'm looking at you Nokia N95. The K800i is now available on pay as you go for £89 or Sim Free.
10 - Olympus EVOLT E-510 - the digital SLR of 2007 - it has it all, 10 megapixels, live view, in body anti-shake sensor, dust reduction, excellent kit lenses, and above all, produces excellent images. Available for £515 with kit lens, or £595 with the twin lens kit.

A word from friends: Some of these 10 megapixel beauties are going to make beautiful - and very large - pictures; you'll need plenty of ink if you're going to print them. The next time you are trying to find cheap printer ink, head online before you go to the store, and find terrific prices on toner cartridges, paper supplies and Epson ink.
