“All this combines to ensure that the V1273 is our favourite Kodak for a while and a decent all round compact for someone looking to undertake the occasional bit of video work. Only the rather tricky touch-screen interface lets the package down, and if you persevere with that, get used to it, and operate it more confidently, then we’re sure this Kodak will grow on you.”

Nikon D700Luminous Landscape have reviewed the new FX-format digital SLR Nikon D700 – a 12 megapixel full frame sensor Digital SLR with live view, ISO 200 to 6400, 5fps shooting, sensor cleaning, a 3″ VGA screen and more. It will be available in July:

“Since the camera uses the exact same sensor and support electronics, if you know what a D3’s image quality looks like, you know what a D700’s output is like. It’s as simple as that. And, in case you’ve have been under a rock for the past year, that means among the lowest noise and otherwise highest image quality of any camera.”

“Having helped create the ‘affordable’ DSLR, Canon has taken a while to respond to the latest, comparatively wallet-friendly offerings from the likes of Nikon and Sony. The 1000D is a pretty convincing response – it does just about everything it needs to do, and everything it does, it does well. It can produce great images at any of its ISO settings and, viewed as a whole, makes a great first DSLR.”
