Sigma DP1 Foveon Digital Camera Review
David Pogue (NYTimes) have reviewed the new Sigma DP1. The Sigma DP1, first shown at Photokina, features the same full size 14 Megapixel Foveon sensor (2652 × 1768 × 3 layers) as featured in the Sigma SD14 Digital SLR, the camera has a 16.6mm lens, equivalent to 28mm, a 2.5" screen and a pop-up flash. The camera is available for £425:
"The camera companies would like you to believe that the megapixel count is the most important measure of a camera, but that’s just not true. Lens quality, circuitry speed, in-camera processing — lots of things are more important. The best overall predictor of image quality, though, is the size of the sensor inside. Big sensors absorb more light, so you get better color and sharper low-light images."
