Olympus Tough 8000

Gizmodo have reviewed the new Olympus Mju Stylus Tough 8000 – a compact 12 megapixel camera, with a wide angle 3.6x optical zoom lens, 2.7″ screen, image stabilisation, tap controls and tough credentials, namely it’s shockproof to 2m, waterproof to 10m, crushproof, and feezeproof to -10. It is available in blue, black, and silver for £217 from Amazon:

“It’s rated to 10 meters, or 33 feet, without a case, making it just as pressure resistant as the Powershot D10. And there’s a 30 meter case, optional, for deeper excursions, too, which the Canon doesn’t have. It is the only periscoping internal zoom lens with a mechanized metal cover.”
