Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR Review
Pocket-Lint has reviewed the new Fujifilm FinePix S200EXR it features a 14.3x optical zoom lens (30.5mm – 436mm), a 12 megapixel SuperCCD EXR sensor that provides high resolution, high sensitivity, and high dynamic range modes, optical image stabilisation, 2.7″ screen, SD card support, 5 Film Simulation Modes, and VGA video recording at 30fps. The camera is available for £356
“The camera is commendably fast to determine focus and exposure if left on auto setting, though when shooting handheld at maximum telephoto, even with image stabilisation on board, we found we sometimes needed to take two or three shots to get one that was nicely crisp. Purple fringing can also be a problem when shooting subjects framed against bright skies, though that’ true of most of Fujifilm’s competitors.”

Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLR Field Review
Photocrati have reviewed the new Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR – the new flagship camera features a 21.1MP full frame CMOS sensor, ISO upto 25600, Full HD (1080, 30fps) movie recording, 3″ VGA LCD with Live View, 3.9fps JPEG shooting, 9-point AF + 6 Assist AF points, and Magnesium alloy body. The Canon 5D Mark II is available from Amazon UK:
“The 5D MkII also features automated sensor cleaning, which we’re beginning to take for granted in a 35mm-style DSLR these days-but it’s still worth mentioning, since this feature was notably absent in the original 5D (to my chagrin). Battery life on the 5D MkII is longer than in the 5D (1800 mAh for the new battery vs. 1390 mAh for the old). The specs say you should get 50 more exposures.”

Nikon D3000 Digital SLR Review
Photocrati has reviewed the new Nikon D3000 – an update to the D60 – it features a 10 megapixel sensor, 3fps shooting, 11 point focus, 3″ LCD, SD support, new Guide mode, and ISO 100-1600. The Nikon D3000 is available for £419 with VR kit lens.
“Nikon’s D40 and D40x were very popular entry-level DSLRs but the replacement model is even more desirable. While it’s also very budget-friendly, the equally small D3000 offers some valuable benefits in spite of the pleasantly low price (about $600 with 18-55mm VR lens.) The primary improvements include a more effective AF system with 11 points plus 3D tracking focus, a larger 3-inch (7.62cm) LCD screen, a faster 3fps continuous framing rate and far more image retouching options in playback mode.”

Panasonic Lumix GF1 M43 DSLR Review
DCResource have reviewed the new Panasonic Lumix GF1 Micro Four Thirds DSLR – the camera features a 12.1 megapixel live view sensor, HD 720p Video at 30fps, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 1:1 aspect ratio, AF assist lamp, ISO100 – 3200, 3fps shooting, 3.0″ 3:2 aspect 460k pixel screen, dust reduction, and built in flash. Compared to the Olympus E-P1 – It lacks the in body image stablisation, and instead relies on optical IS in the lens. The camera is available in Black, Silver, Red and White, for £729 with kit lens, or £499 body only.
“Overall, I was really happy with the quality of the photos produced by the Lumix DMC-GF1. Exposure was generally accurate, and the camera kept highlight clipping to a minimum. Colors were pleasing, though I might crank up the saturation a notch just to give things a little more “punch”.”

Sony Cybershot WX1 Review
David Pogue has reviewed the new Sony Cybershot WX1 – with a f2.4 wide angle 5x optical zoom lens (24mm – 120mm), it offers “Extraordinary pictures even in low-light”, and features a back-illuminated 10 megapixel CMOS sensor, optical image stabilisation, HD 720p movie recording, 2.7″ screen, and 10fps shooting. The Sony Cybershot WX1 is available for £269
“The Sony performs two other stunts that will make your jaw drop. From its much larger, zoomier cousin, the HX1, the WX1 inherits Sweep Panorama mode. As you whip the camera in an arc around your body, it quietly snaps 10 consecutive photos, figures out how to connect them, and spits out a finished 270-degree panorama. Talk about wide-angle!”
