Samsung has announced three new digital cameras, all three are 14.2 megapixel cameras. Starting with the “budget” Samsung PL200 (above) – it features a 7x optical zoom lens (slightly wide-angle 31mm-217mm), 3″ screen, 720p video, and optical and digital image stabilisation. It should be available in September priced at $179.99 (US).
Updates to the DualView cameras include the new Samsung ST100 and ST600 – both cameras feature a new larger front screen that is 1.8″ rather than the normal 1.5″ – as featured on the ST550. Although seeing the ST100 below, with the folded-optics lens and mostly empty front panel, it makes me wonder how long till we see even larger front screens…
The Samsung ST100 and ST600 (seen below) both feature Alicia Keys, a 3.5″ touch screen, 720p video, optical and digital image stabilisation, and numerous scene modes, and should be available in September.
The ST600 features a 27mm wide angle 5x optical zoom lens, while the ST100 features a 35mm 5x optical zoom lens.
“The new flagship models of the Samsung DualView camera family, the ST600 and ST100 each received an upgrade to their front LCD screens, activated by a simple tap, which now measure 1.8″ compared to the 1.5″ front LCD screens found on their DualView predecessors. With larger front LCD screens, the ST600 and ST100 make it easier for consumers to properly frame themselves in their photos and videos and be part of the action by stepping out from behind the camera and joining friends and family in front. The Samsung DualView ST600 and ST100 are also available in stylish, mood-inspired colors, including purple (ST600) and pink (ST100), and are encased in a slim and sleek compact frame with a metallic finish to deliver a new sense of fun and modern functionality that will ensure users stand out from the crowd.”
