Canon Powershot SX30 IS Announced
If you thought the 30x optical zoom (28-840mm) of the Olympus SP-800UZ was excessive, then the 35x optical zoom (35 mm equivalent: 24 – 840 mm) of the Canon Powershot SX30 IS goes even further. Announced today it features a 35x ultra wide-angle zoom lens, Optical Image Stabilizer (4.5-stop), USM, VCM, 14.1 MP CCD sensor, 2.7″ vari-angle LCD, EVF, HD movies, HDMI, Smart Auto, Manual modes, Low Light and Miniature Effect movie, Zoom Framing Assist, Servo AF/AE, Extensive accessory system.

Olympus E-5 Digital SLR Announced
Olympus has announced the new Olympus E-5 Digital SLR, with a weather sealed magnesium alloy body, it shouldn’t leak, and features a 12.3 megapixel Live MOS sensor, 3″ 920k pixel swivel screen, 720p, 30fps HD video recording, ISO100-6400, SD / SDHC / SDXC support as well as Compact Flash support, top LCD screen, level gauge, 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios, 10 art filters, dust protection sensor, HDMI and stereo mic support. The E-5 offers a new dramatic tone art filter, multiple exposures, 100% viewfinder, and the world’s fastest AF system.

Samsung NX100 Announced
Samsung has announced the new Samsung NX100, interchangeable lens camera, it features a 14.6 Mega-pixels APS-C size CMOS sensor, 3.0” VGA AMOLED Display, ISO100 – 3200, extendable to 6400, SmartAuto, Lens Priority, Program, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Manual, Scene, Movie shooting modes, 720P HD Movie Recording, optional EVF, optional flash gun, and optional GPS unit. Samsung has also announced two new lenses: the 20mm F2.8 pancake, and 20-50mm F3.5-5.6 ED kit zoom lens. The NX100 will be available in black, white, or bronze.

Pentax has announced the new Pentax K-r Digital SLR – available in black, white or red (or other colours depending on location) – and features a 12.4 megapixel CMOS sensor, 6fps shooting, 3″ screen, 11 point SAFOX IX autofocus, ISO 100-25600, 720p HD video recording, and lithium ion battery and AA battery support.

Pentax Optio NB1000 Nanoblock Camera
Pentax (Japan) has announced the new Pentax Optio NB1000 – a “nanoblock” (like lego, only smaller) version of the Pentax Optio RS1000 – it’s available in Safari green, or classic white, and specs are the same: 14mp, wide 4x optical zoom lens (28-110mm), 3″ screen, 720p HD video, etc. (via RiceHigh Blog – also spotted – Two NB1000s stuck together: 3D Anyone?)
Pentax Optio RS1000 Skinable Camera Announced
Pentax has announced the new Pentax Optio RS1000 – a compact camera that features a removable front cover – so that you can “skin” the camera – either with your own creations, or with Pentax designs. It also features a 14 megapixel sensor, wide-angle 4x optical zoom lens (28-110mm), 3″ screen, 720p HD video, it’s available in default colours of black, red, or white.

Nikon Coolpix S8100 Pocket Zoom Announced
Nikon has announced the new Nikon Coolpix S8100 – an update to the S8000 – it features a new backlit 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 10x optical zoom lens (30-300mm) with optical image stabilisation, 1080p HD movies with stereo sound, ISO3200, 10fps shooting (5 shots at 12mp), 1cm macro, 210 shot battery life, SD/SDHC/SDXC support, and will be available in red, black or gold.
“By adopting a backside illumination CMOS image sensor for the new COOLPIX S8100, significant improvements in image quality achieved with technologies for shooting beautiful nighttime photos have been made.
