GE X5 Ultra Zoom
ePhotoZine has reviewed the new GE X5 Ultra Zoom – the camera is available for only £112 – the budget camera features a wide-angle 15x optical zoom lens (27-405mm equivalent), 14.1 megapixel sensor, 2.7″ screen, electronic viewfinder, optical image stabilisation (CCD-shift type), face detection, ISO3200, Pan-Capture Panorama, High Dynamic Range mode, auto-scene detection, manual (P, A,S,M) modes, 5cm macro mode, pop-up flash, VGA video recording with sound at 30fps, and the camera takes 4 AA batteries, and SD/SDHC memory cards. The camera is available in black or storm trooper white (depending on location – we had a look at the white GE X5 at Photokina 2010).

“The build quality is excellent for this price point and there’s a really solid grip that’s easy to hold. The dial on the top of the camera is big and chunky and the zoom rocker is prominent. There are some issues with the Electronic View Finder because it doesn’t keep up when focusing and firing and it also doesn’t display any shooting information.”

Nikon Coolpix P7000
Photography BLOG has reviewed the new Nikon Coolpix P7000, it features a wide angle 7.1x optical zoom lens (28-200mm, ED, with Vibration Reduction), 10 megapixel sensor, optical viewfinder, 3″ screen with 921K pixels, 720p HD Video recording with stereo sound, manual controls, RAW support, ISO3200, electronic virtual horizon (aka spirit level), 350 shot battery life and SD/SDHC/SDXC card support. The Nikon Coolpix P7000 is available for £459.

“The Nikon Coolpix P7000 is thicker and heavier than the P6000 model that it replaces, now more closely resembling the popular Canon Powershot G-series in terms of both dimensions and weight. This means that it no longer fits completely in your palm or a trouser pocket, instead being much more at home stored in a capacious coat pocket or small shoulder bag.”

Canon intro: “The PowerShot SX210 IS combines compact, take-anywhere proportions with a wide 28mm Canon lens, perfect for capturing landscapes or group shots. A 14x optical zoom lets you fill the frame with distant subjects, while the 4-stop optical Image Stabilizer prevents image blur due to camera shake throughout the long zoom range.”
