Kodak has announced the new Kodak Easyshare MAX (Z990), it features a 12mp BSI (back side illumination) CMOS sensor, wide angle 30x optical zoom lens (f/2.8, 28–840 mm), optical image stabilisation, 3.0″ HVGA screen, 1080p HD video recording at 30fps, stereo mic, HDR mode, manual modes, face detection, histogram display, 360 panoramic mode, ISO64-6400 (12800 at 3.1mp), EVF, high speed burst mode 120 fps @ 1 MP (max 40), and takes Ni-MH AA batteries (provided).

Update: ePHOTOzine has published the first preview of the Kodak Easyshare Max Z990, and the camera is available to order from Amazon UK for £299.

    Perhaps someone will know the answer to this question. I emailed Kodak to find out if the z990 has “Macro”. The answer I got back was because it is not one the market yet, they would not not answer the question. The one website on the specs of the z990 says, “Macro fucus range”: nothing.

    You refer to the Z990 as a 30X zoom, and say that the maximum focal length is 676mm, whereas the writing on the front of the lens indicates that it goes out to 840mm. I reported this to Kodak back in January, when the first press releases of this camera came out. Maybe their public relations department really is that slow that they have not found the time to address this misrepresentation, but I am hard pressed to know why this problem still exists. Is it a question of competive marketing?

  4. I would like to know if the Z990 has a peep view finder or if there is a way
    to adjust the back view finder when using in bright sunlight.

    Also where is the zoom button.
