Fujifilm FinePix F550 GPS Camera Announced
Fujifilm has announced the new Fujifilm FinePix F550 Pocket Zoom with GPS – it features a 16 megapixel EXR CMOS sensor, 15x optical zoom covering 24-360mm (35mm equivalent), 3.0 inch rear LCD with 460,000 pixel, GPS functionality, RAW shooting, Advanced Anti-blur technologies, 1600% wide dynamic range, Full resolution high speed shooting at 8fps, Full HD movie capture (H.264 MOV file format), Advanced 27 scene mode EXR Auto, Film simulation modes, 360° Motion Panorama mode, Photobook Assist function.
“Packed with features and fully loaded with some of the latest technological innovations, the new Fujifilm FinePix F550EXR is the ideal premium compact camera for the discerning point-and-shoot photographer or SLR users who want to travel light, without compromising image quality. Plus, with the ability to shoot in RAW, this camera will appeal to the true enthusiast.
Despite having a body that measures just 22.9mm wide, this clever camera has a 15x optical zoom lens, which extends from a wide-angle setting of 24mm through to 360mm (35mm equivalent). This gives users a huge range of shooting options plus, image quality and sharpness is assured, thanks to the Fujinon lens and new triple core EXR processing engine.
The F550EXR is also one of Fujifilm’s first cameras to feature built-in GPS functionality. The FinePix F500EXR has virtually the same specification to the F550EXR, but does not feature GPS nor the RAW shooting facility, and it also has a reduced frame capture rate.
The F550 EXR is available in a stylish black finish with red highlights while the F500 EXR will be available in a choice of five stylish colours. Launch date: March 2011.”

Fujifilm FinePix X100 Becomes Official
Fujifilm has announced the release date for the Fujifilm FinePix X100 – March 2011. We had a look at the Fujifilm FinePix X100 prototype, at Photokina 2010. The lens offers a focal length of 23mm (135 equivalent: 35mm) and a widest aperture of F2, 12mp APS-C sensor, and hybrid optical and electronic viewfinder.
“The X100 has been designed to appeal to the millions of DSLR users who need a slim, back-up camera, for high quality, in-fill shots, when the use of a bigger SLR system is either inconvenient or impractical. Alternatively, it can be used as a professional’s only top-end camera, if size and versatility are the primary considerations.”
“In order to suit its role, the FinePix X100 has been designed without compromise, adopting the highest possible quality lens and sensor combination with a fixed, prime F2 lens, manufactured by Fujinon to perfectly match the full size 12.3 megapixel APS-C custom sensor. Fujifilm has also developed new technology for the X100 to ensure a unique user experience. This includes the first hybrid viewfinder, which combines an electronic viewfinder system and the window-type ‘bright frame’ optical viewfinder, normally found in high-end film cameras. Casio TRYX Digital Camera Announced
Casio has announced the new Casio TRYX – a new compact camera with rotating body / screen / lens (it’s best shown in pictures) – and features a 12 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, 21mm (equivalent) lens (with no optical zoom), 3″ touch screen, high speed shooting, HDR mode, HDR-Art, 360 Panoramic mode, ISO100-3200, HDMI out, 1920 x1080 (30fps) HD video recording, lithium ion battery and SD / SDHC / SDXC support. The camera will be available in black or white, for $249. Hands-on at engadget.com.

Polaroid GL10, GL20, GL30 Instant Camera
Polaroid has announced the new Grey Label GL10, GL20, and GL30. The Polaroid GL30 is a new instant 12mp digital camera, with built in zink printer and swivel screen, although it appears to be in prototype stages as specifications, price and release dates are unknown. The Polaroid GL10 is a new bluetooth printer, available in May for $149, much like the original Polaroid Pogo Printer. Both the instant camera and printer prints 3 x 4″ photos. Engadget went hands-on, and there are more pictures at Crunchgear.

Olympus Tough TG-310 Waterproof Announced
Olympus has announced the new Olympus Tough TG-310 – apart from being waterproof (3m), dustproof, freezeproof, and shockproof, it features a wide angle 3.6x optical zoom lens (28-102mm), 2.7″ screen with 230k pixels, 720p HD Video, HDMI out, 3D photo shooting, ISO80 to 1600, Panoramic shot, SDHC / SDXC support, anti-shake sensor, and USB Charging. The OLYMPUS TOUGH TG-310 in silver, blue, red, white and orange for €199 from February.

Olympus has announced the new Olympus Tough TG-610 – apart from being waterproof (5m), dustproof, freezeproof, and shockproof, it features a wide angle 5x optical zoom lens (28-140mm), 3″ screen with 920k pixels, 720p HD Video, HDMI out, 3D photo shooting, ISO80 to 1600, Panoramic shot, SDHC / SDXC support, anti-shake sensor, and USB Charging. The OLYMPUS TOUGH TG-610 is available silver, black, blue and red for €249 from February.

Olympus has announced the new Olympus VR-310, a compact pocket zoom, that is only 19.3mm deep, it features a 10x super wide optical zoom (24-240mm), 720p HD video, 14 megapixel sensor, 3″ screen, metal body, ISO100 – 1600, SDHC support, anti-shake sensor, and USB charging. Olympus VG-120 VG-130 Compacts Announced
Olympus has announced the new Olympus VG-120 and Olympus VG-130 – the VG-130 features a metal body, and the VG-120 features a plastic body – other features include a 14 megapixel sensor, wide angle 5x optical zoom lens (26-130mm), 3″ screen, ISO 100 to 1600, and 19.1mm thin body. The Olympus VG-130 is available in silver, black, red or pink for €99, the VG-120 in silver, black, red or blue for €89, both from mid-January 2011.

Olympus SP-610 Ultra Zoom Announced
Olympus has announced the new Olympus SP-610UZ Ultra Zoom camera – it features a wide angle 22x optical zoom lens (28mm-616mm), anti-shake 14 megapixel CCD sensor, 3D photos, 720p HD video, 3″ screen, panoramic shooting, SDHC / SDXC support, HDMI out, and it will be available in February.

Olympus XZ-1 f1.8 Compact Camera Announced
Olympus has announced the new Olympus XZ-1, shown in prototype form at Photokina, it is nice to see Olympus’ re-entry into the serious compact market. The camera features a high sensitivity 10 megapixel CCD sensor, an i.Zuiko Digital f1.8-f2.5 wide angle 4x optical zoom lens (28-112mm), with lens ring and another dial at the back, the camera also features a high resolution 3″ 631k pixel OLED screen, manual controls, RAW support, ISO100-6400, built in flash, flash hot-shoe, accessory port (as featured in the PEN series), multi-exposure, AF illuminator, 1cm macro, art filters, HDMI out, 320 shot battery life, lithium ion batter, upto 7/15fps shooting (JPEG, 2fps RAW), 720p HD video (at 30fps), and will be available in white or black. Olympus has also announced a waterproof case, waterproof up to 40 metres.
