Nokia N8 – The Nokia N8 made a big splash when it was announced due to it’s 12 megapixel 1/1.83″ (1.75 micron pixels) digital camera sized sensor, and 28mm f/2.8 carl zeiss lens. This is similar in size to those that you’d find in serious compact digital cameras.
Canon Powershot S95 – The Canon Powershot S95 makes an excellent all round compact camera, and it’s small size and built in image stabilisation lends itself extremely well to being the camera you can take with you everywhere you go, and still rely on it in low light conditions. £229. Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS – Available in Silver, Pink, Blue, and Grey, the Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS (aka SD1200 IS) is a compact camera that features a 10 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom lens, 2.5″ screen, and optical image stabilisation. It’s also one of the smallest cameras available with an optical viewfinder – although due to it’s compact size it’s usefulness may be limited. Ricoh CX4 – Ricoh’s latest compact camera in a long line of compact cameras, which started with the Ricoh CX1 (9mp CMOS sensor, 7.1x optical zoom lens), Ricoh CX2 (10.7x optical zoom lens), Ricoh CX3 (10mp update), and now the Ricoh CX4, which adds improved image stabilisation, new creative modes, a new night shot mode, subject tracking AF, and improved battery life. Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP – an ultra compact waterproof camera with a 10 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom lens and 2.7″ screen, the camera is available in numerous colours: black, blue, gold, pink and green, for £88 (in black) and takes SD cards (It may even be available for less from the Fuji Refurb shop) and is one of the cheapest all-in-one waterproof cameras – but is it any good? Samsung ES15 – one of the cheapest digital cameras available with a REAL optical zoom lens, and currently undercuts most other manufacturers by roughly £20, priced at only £49-59. Occassionally it’s even been on special offer for only £39. This makes it amazing value for money, but price isn’t the only thing we need to look at, especially from our experience with with other budget cameras. Find out how it performs in our review. Vivitar Vivicam V8225 – the camera specification looks quite promising, especially as the camera is available from £40-£50, it features an 8 megapixel sensor, 2x optical zoom lens (apparently), 2.4″ screen, lithium ion battery, SD/SDHC support, and VGA video mode (without sound), but is it any good?
