This camera is an excellent option, the image quality is suberb, very sharp with fantastic colours. In addition it has a lot of creative features. And the best of all is that all of them can be operated in full manual mode, then you can take whole control of exposure (speed, aperture, iso, wb) and flash options, bracketing. At low Iso is very clear in night shots, the pictures are clean, sharp and have amazing colours. In conclusion, you can´t buy anything better for the price. I really love it.

Sony has never failed to design its models in a unique pattern. The cameras that it provides are not only unique, but also feature great in-built qualities which take it to the top-most level in the camera market.

Towards the end of 2011 DCViews was taken over and remains active, albeit under new management.

The site is currently in the process of redesign and some period of slow update, and related disruption, however the new owner is keen to not disappoint the existing audience, while also looking to attract new visitors and strengthen the community.

As the newowner says on the homepage:

"I know change can be difficult and I promise to keep an open ear and please let me know of any questions, concerns or ideas that you may have."

So, DCViews has not gone away, but is undergoing a transition that will hopefully bring benefit to all who use the site.

re:batteries
it's a very funny problem... i had it with many previous Olympus models (since z2040). I believe that's the reason they switched to their own batteries. They couldn't find a solution for 1.5V>1.2V downgrade per battery (or a sensor that will detect this).

SOLUTION: Weird, but it behaves like a live being. Initially it doesn't like rechargeables. However, if you stop feeding it with alcalines, it will eventually accept rechargeables as a "staple food". Some training and it'll work. I managed to "train" all my Olympus cameras within weeks and with good quality Ni-MH (e.g. Sony 2100mA) you can expect a very significant battery life.

I am interested in your review of the new(ish) Ricoh, their CX4. I had a CX1 but the lens motor stopped working (it wouldn't come out at switch-on). It was just out of guarantee and the shop charged me £25 to tell me that it couldn't be repaired economically. Against my deeper feelings I bought another the same because I had the case and two batteries. It took decent shots when it was working. I have now dropped my second CX1 and need to buy again. This time I have three batteries and the case to push the decision! The failure after dropping it is the same again - the lens won't move out at swictch on. Both cameras have also developed another fault in the short time (about 18months) that I've used each of them: the zoom doesn't stop when I let go of the switch. I get there by jerking it back and forth until it stops in the right place. Seems like a generic weakness as both cameras did it. And, just for your interest, I find the mode control wheel infuriating - about 50% of the time I take a shot and find that the wheel has slipped round a couple of places in handling the camera. I can take it again - but occasionally I miss an unrepeatable shot because of it. Is it so good a camera - or should I be packing upon Ricoh and going elsewhere this time round, notwithstanding the case and all those batteries?
