Pentax Optio W80 Announced

Pentax Imaging have announced the new Pentax Optio W80 - it features: 12.1 megapixels, is Waterproof, Dustproof, Coldproof and Shockproof, has a Wide-angle 5X internal optical zoom, a 2.5" screen, 720p HD video recording at 30fps. The camera is available in blue, red, or grey from July.

Olympus EVOLT E-P1 M43 Camera Announced

Update: Olympus have officially announced the new Olympus E-P1 a new micro four thirds Digital camera, it's the world's smallest digital camera with changeable lens, it features the same size sensor as other Olympus Digital SLRs (meaning much better image quality with all the low-noise benefits of a DSLR), but with a camera body and lens size much more in like with a compact point and shoot such as the Canon G10! It will be available with a compact 17mm lens (34mm equivalent, UK Price with viewfinder £749), and 14-42mm 3x zoom lens (28 - 84mm equivalent, UK Price £699). More pics at Engadget. Polaroid Two - Polaroid Instant Digital Camera

Firebox are taking orders for the new Polaroid Pogo Instant Digital Camera and Printer called the Polaroid Two, it uses the Zink printing technology, as featured in the Polaroid Pogo Mobile Printer - features a 5mp camera, 3" screen, no optical zoom (4x digital zoom), and is available for £229. Nikon D5000 Digital SLR Announced

Nikon has announced the new Nikon D5000 Digital SLR - it features a 12 megapixel CMOS sensor, 2.7" live view swivel screen, HD video recording (720p), ISO3200, adaptive D-lighting, dust reduction, 11-point AF and 19 scene modes. It will be available on the 1st of May:

Olympus has announced the new Olympus EVOLT E-450 - an update to the E-420 - the camera features a 10 megapixel sensor, 3.5fps shooting (upto 8 RAW shots), three new art filters, improved live view 2.7" screen, perfect shot preview, TruPic III+ image processor, ISO1600, depth of field preview, and compact flash / XD card support. It will be available in May priced at £450 with kit lens.

Canon EOS 500D Rebel T1i DSLR Announced

Canon have announced the new Canon EOS 500D / Rebel T1i Digital SLR - a new 15.1 megapixel digital SLR with 3" screen, ISO12800, 3.4fps shooting, live view, and 1080p HD video shooting at 20fps. It will be available from May:

Samsung NX Series DSLR Prototype Announced

Samsung have announced the new Samsung NX series - a pocketable DSLR styled camera with a larger APS-C sized sensor from a Digital SLR and interchangeable lenses - but without the through the lens optical viewfinder standard on SLRs. Very similar to the Micro Four / Thirds system, but with a slightly larger sensor size. This is just a prototype at the moment, the camera should be available in the second half of 2009.

"Samsung’s new NX Series bridges the gap between a DSLR and compact point-and-shoot digital camera by combining the benefits of both in one new model. Like conventional DSLRs, the NX Series utilizes an APS C sized image sensor providing a much larger surface area to gather light and produce higher-quality images than comparable digital camera systems. Unlike a DSLR, the NX Series does not feature a mirror box and employs an ultra-precise Electronic Viewfinder (EVF). The use of an EVF has allowed Samsung engineers to significantly reduce the size and weight of the new camera system by decreasing the distance between the lens and image sensor (flange back) by approximately 60% compared to traditional DSLRs. In addition to utilizing the EVF, consumers can also take advantage of the camera’s Live View functionality to frame their shots on the NX Series’ high resolution screen."

Panasonic Lumix GH1 DSLR Announced

Panasonic have announced the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 - an update to the G1 - it adds HD-video recording at 1920 × 1080 at 24fps to the 12 megapixel live view micro four thirds camera, it also features a new lens specifically designed for HD video recording:

"The DMC-GH1 is not just a high performance still picture camera. Amazingly it can record Full-HD movies at 1080/24p or smooth HD movies at 720/60p in AVCHD with a continuous AF function. Casio have announced the new Casio Exilim EX-Z29 - a compact 10 megapixel camera, it features a 3x optical zoom lens, and 2.7" screen, and will be available in black, pink, blue, silver and purple with an MSRP of $149.99 in April:

Pentax X70 Megazoom Announced

Pentax have announced the new Pentax X70 Ultra zoom with 26mm 24X wide-angle optical zoom, 12 megapixel CCD sensor, 2.7" screen, widescreen 720p (15 FPS) video recording, anti shake sensor, 1cm macro mode, and 11fps shooting. The PENTAX X70 will ship in April 2009 for $399.95 USD.

Kodak Easyshare Z915 Announced

Kodak have announced the new Kodak Easyshare Z915 - a compact 10x optical zoom digital camera, it features optical image stabilisation, 10 megapixel sensor, AA batteries, 2.5" screen, and will be available in red, blue, black and grey for £179 from May:

Olympus EVOLT E-620 DSLR Announced

Olympus have announced the new Olympus EVOLT E-620 - it fits in between the E-520, and the E-420 in size measuring 130 x 94.0 x 60 mm - and is the smallest DSLR with anti-shake sensor, it features a 12 megapixel sensor, a 2.7" swivel screen, 7 point AF, dust reduction, backlit buttons, ISO3200, and art filters. It will be available in May priced between the E-520 and E-30:

Sony have announced the new Sony Cybershot W210 and W220 - a 12 megapixel digital camera with a 4x optical zoom lens starting at 33mm, a 2.7" screen, with digital image stabilisation on the W210 available in Silver, Pink, and Green for £149, and optical image stabilisation on the W220, available in Silver, Black, and Blue from February 2009 for £149.

Sony have announced the new budget Sony Cybershot DSC-S950 - a 10 megapixel digital camera with a 4x optical zoom lens starting at 33mm, a 2.7" screen, digital image stabilisation, available in black, silver and pink, the camera is available for £98.

"Image quality stands out, thanks to a generous 10.1 effective megapixel resolution and powerful 4x zoom lens to bring your subject closer. Polaroid Pogo Instant Digital Camera Prototype

AP have details of the new Polaroid Pogo Instant Digital Camera and Printer Prototype being shown at CES 2009, it uses the Zink printing technology, as featured in the Polaroid Pogo Mobile Printer - and should be available later this year. More details at Polaroid:

"With the push of a button consumers can select from among the digital photos on camera, crop or edit them in less than 60 seconds and print full-colour prints,' said Polaroid UK's marketing manager Lindsay Kelson. She said that the camera will not be available until the 'second quarter' of this year, though she hinted it could be out as early as April."

Olympus have announced the new compact budget Olympus FE-5000, it features a 10 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom lens, real image stabisation, and a 2.7" screen. It will be available in silver, or black for £134.

Olympus have announced the new budget Olympus FE-45, it features a 10 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom lens, and a 2.5" screen. It will be available in silver, black or blue.

Pentax have announced the new Pentax Optio P70 - a compact 12 megapixel camera with a wide angle 4x optical zoom lens, 2.7" screen, Pixel Track Shake Reduction (digital image stabilisation), HD Video (720p at 15fps), and ultra slim body it will be available in white, silver and red from Amazon UK:

Nikon have announced the new Nikon D3x 24.5mp Full Frame Digital SLR - it feature ISO upto 1600, 5fps shooting, 51-point AF, a 3" screen with live view, and magnesium alloy body:

Casio Exilim W63CA 8mp Camera Phone

Casio (Japan) have announced the new 8 megapixel Casio Exilim W63CA - a flip camera phone with an 8 megapixel Casio Exilim digital camera on one side, a phone in the middle, and a large 3.1" swivel screen. The lens is a wide angle 28mm lens, with no optical zoom. It will be available in green, pink, silver, and titanium in Japan. Via DCViews.

Fujifilm 3D Digital Camera Announced

Fujifilm have announced plans to sell a 3D digital camera - and were showing this prototype at Photokina - the camera features 2 lenses, 2 sensors, and a 2.8" 3D screen on the back. The camera was a 6 megapixel model, records videos in 3D and should be available next year. They were also showing a prototype 3D screen.

"Fujifilm today announces a radical departure from current imaging systems with the development of a completely new, real image system (3D digital camera, 3D digital photo frame, 3D print) that marks a complete break from previous attempts to introduce this technology."
