Panasonic Lumix F3 Budget Camera Announced

Panasonic has announced the new 12mp Panasonic Lumix F3 with 28mm wide-angle 4x optical zoom lens, 720p HD video recording, a 2.7" screen, face detection, and digital image stabilisation. The camera will be available in silver and black, and supports SD/SDHC and SDXC memory cards.

Sony Cybershot S2100 S2000 Budget Cameras Announced

Sony has announced the new Sony Cybershot S2100 (and S2000) - the camera supports both Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD/SDHC memory cards - and features a 12mp sensor (S2100), a 3x optical zoom lens, 3.0" screen, VGA 30fps video recording, the camera will be available in silver, black or orange from the end of January 2010:

The Sony Cybershot S2000 features a 10 megapixel sensor, a 2.5" screen and is available in silver or black. Both cameras use AA batteries.

The cameras are so exciting that they aren't even mentioned in the press release, except for in the specification table at the bottom. Either way, they get my vote for ugliest new camera of 2010 so far!

DPReview has reviewed the new Nikon D3000 - an update to the D60 - it features a 10 megapixel sensor, 3fps shooting, 11 point focus, 3" LCD, SD support, new Guide mode, and ISO 100-1600. The Nikon D3000 is available for £389 with VR kit lens.

"As far as image quality is concerned, the D3000 is a thoroughly satisfying camera, without being exceptional. The white balance system doesn't cope all that well with artificial lighting, but the same is true of the D5000 and D90 as well, and it isn’t significantly worse than anything else in the entry-level sector."

The Worst Digital Cameras of 2009

Digital Camera HQ has brought to us another list, this time the Worst Digital Cameras of 2009, featuring mostly low-end budget digital cameras, with the Olympus FE-45 named as the worst - it features a 10 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom lens, and a 2.5" screen. It is available for £97, however, we think you would be much better off spending a little more on the Panasonic Lumix FS7.

"Last and definitely least is the Olympus FE-45. We can confidently say that this is the worst camera of the year. We haven't received enough user ratings to assign it a letter grade, but the reviews we have seen give it the lowest ranking of the 100 or so cameras we've added to DCHQ in the past year."

The Z280 appears to be the most interesting of the two featuring a 26mm wide angle 4x optical zoom lens (26 to 104mm), 12mp sensor, CCD-shift image stabilisation, 720p video, ISO3200, 2.7" screen, and thin body (0.8" thick). AgfaPhoto has announced three new compact cameras, the AgfaPhoto Optima 102 (above), Optima 100, and Optima 1. The slim cameras will be available in September, and feature face detection, ISO3200, beauty shot, and come in a number of colours, more details below. (via Engadget)

"The Panasonic Lumix LS80 is a basic entry-level camera with 8 megapixels, 3X optical zoom and a 2.5 inch LCD. The LCD is very usable and the lens which starts at 33 mm is a small but useful plus. The LS80’s plastic build is not flimsy but I did find that memory card door not very sturdy and it doesn’t open up wide, making it hard to swap memory cards. There’s no speaker here either, means you can record movies with sound but only hear it later on your computer."
