Canon IXUS 1100HS Review
ePHOTOzine has reviewed the new Canon Digital IXUS 1100 HS – it features a wide angle 12x optical zoom lens, 3.2inch touch screen, 12 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor for high speed shooting, and a compact metal body available in silver, black and red. Canon IXUS 230 HS Review
ePHOTOzine has reviewed the new Canon IXUS 230 HS – a compact digital camera with an 8x optical zoom lens, 12 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, 3 inch screen, metal body, full HD video, image stabilisation, and slow motion video. The Canon IXUS 230 HS is available from £206 in a number of colours.
Canon EOS 1D X Digital SLR Announced
Canon has announced the new Canon EOS 1D X – full frame Digital SLR – it features an 18 megapixel sensor, 12/14fps shooting, ISO up to 512,400, Full HD video, 3.2inch screen, dual DIGIC 5 processors, and ethernet port built in! “The EOS-1D X combines speed with image quality, to create the next generation camera for professionals. Full frame 18 megapixel sensor with Dual “DIGIC 5+” processors sets the standard, and up to 12 frames per second shooting takes it beyond.”
Canon Powershot SX40 HS Announced
Canon has announced the Canon Powershot SX40 HS – an ultra zoom with a 35x optical zoom lens, 12 megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, image stabilisation, 2.7inch tilting/swivelling screen, Full HD video, 10fps high speed continuous shooting, and DIGIC 5 processor. The camera will be available in October priced at £459, and can be pre-ordered from Amazon UK.

Canon Powershot S100 Announced
Canon has announced the new Canon Powershot S100 – an update to the Canon Powershot S95 – it features a new wide angle 5x optical zoom lens (f/2.0, 24mm), 12 megapixel CMOS sensor, 3inch screen, full HD video, GPS, and shoots at 9.6 fps. The camera will be available in silver or black, and features an improved grip. The Canon Powershot S100 is available for pre-order from Amazon UK for £439. (via ePHOTOzine)

Interestingly the 12 megapixel Canon Powershot SX230 HS appears to have the best image quality and detail compared to the other 14 and 16 megapixel cameras on test.

Samsung PL210 Pocket Zoom Reviews
ePHOTOzine has reviewed the Samsung PL210 – a compact camera with a wide-angle 10x optical zoom lens, it starts at 27mm and zooms to 270mm. It’s quite a neat little camera, but according to the review doesn’t do enough to stand out compared to the abundant competition. It also features a 3inch screen, 14 megapixel sensor, lithium ion battery, and takes microSD cards.
More pocket-zooms reviewed: Casio Exilim H30 – comes Recommended thanks to a 12.5x optical zoom lens, 1000 shot battery life, and consistent performance. If you want or need even more zoom, have a look at the Fujifilm FinePix HS20EXR – reviewed by NeoCamera.
More Casio reviews: Casio Exilim ZS5 and ZS10 two similar compact cameras, with 5x optical zoom lens and wallet friendly price (depending where you shop), they are available for less than £100. The Canon Powershot A3200 IS is another wallet friendly camera, available for around £105. If you want an ultra compact, then you could have a look at the stylish Canon Digital IXUS 220 HS – the HS stands for High Speed and the camera features a quick CMOS sensor.

“The camera is really well made, looks beautiful with its large touch screen on the rear and operating the camera with the screen is easy. Of the few physical buttons on the camera there is a dedicated button to switch the camera into Smart Auto mode. The buttons on the screen are labeled with big logos which are easy to understand and the writing is crisp and clear, making the camera menus easy to navigate.”
