Nikon Coolpix P6000 Review

Nikon Coolpix P6000Cameras.co.uk have reviewed the new 13.5 megapixel Nikon Coolpix P6000 - it features a wide angle 4x optical zoom lens with image stabilisation, a 2.7" screen, RAW support, manual controls, external flash support, manual focus, GPS support, and an optical viewfinder. The camera is available for £324

"The Nikon Coolpix P6000 is an impressive camera. It has a great set of features. These have been put together in a clever way that makes the camera as easy as it can be to use when taking all the features into account. Picture quality is very good indeed. The downside comes with the shutter delay times. These are very disappointing for a camera of this quality."

Nikon Coolpix P6000 Review at TR

Nikon Coolpix P6000Trusted Reviews have reviewed the new 13.5 megapixel Nikon Coolpix P6000 - it features a wide angle 4x optical zoom lens with image stabilisation, a 2.7" screen, RAW support, manual controls, external flash support, manual focus, GPS support, and an optical viewfinder. The camera is available for £324

"The P6000 is an impressive camera, with superb build quality, a great range of features, decent performance and excellent image quality. It’s the strongest contender yet in Nikon’s semi-pro P series. It’s not quite strong enough to take on the Canon G10, but it does come in a decent second, and the additional feature of the built-in Geotagging GPS system will appeal to those looking for a robust high-quality travel camera."

Canon G10 Nikon P6000 Panasonic LX3 Review

Canon Powershot G10ByThom have reviewed the new 14.7 megapixel Canon Powershot G10 and compared it to the Nikon Coolpix P6000 and Panasonic Lumix LX3. The G10 is an update to the G9 - it features a wide angle 5x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, RAW support, 3" screen, VGA video recording and ISO1600. The Canon G10 is available for £372:

"Unfortunately, no single camera quite hits the nail fully on the head. For my mark, the Canon comes the closest for my types of use, though the Panasonic provides capabilities that I sometimes need and stays in the bag, too. The Nikon will get sold off and I'll go back to waiting for Nikon to design a decent compact."

Canon Powershot G10 vs Nikon Coolpix P6000

Canon Powershot G10Photography BLOG have reviewed the new 14.7 megapixel Canon Powershot G10 and compared it to the Nikon Coolpix P6000. The G10 is an update to the G9 - it features a wide angle 5x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, RAW support, 3" screen, VGA video recording and ISO1600. The Canon G10 is available for £380:

"The Nikon Coolpix P6000 is a good camera, but the Canon PowerShot G10 is better - it's as simple as that. In terms of both features and handling, the G10 has the edge, and it was invariably the camera that I reached for first. The contest would be a lot closer if the P6000's unique features - GPS and LAN connectivity - had actually lived up to expectations, but they are both rather weak in their current implementation."

Canon Powershot G10 vs Nikon Coolpix P6000

Canon Powershot G10Luminous Landscape have reviewed the new 14.7 megapixel Canon Powershot G10 and compared it to the Nikon Coolpix P6000. The G10 is an update to the G9 - it features a wide angle 5x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, RAW support, 3" screen, VGA video recording and ISO1600. The Canon G10 is available for £380:

"The net of this comparison is that while the Nikon P6000 is a fine little camera, it finds itself in the unfortunate position of being released at the same time as the Canon G10, which it would appear is an attempt by Canon to produce a full-featured pocket camera with the highest quality that they are capable of. In this they appear to have succeeded, unlike with last year's G9, which was a decent camera, but which didn't seem to be a whole-hearted effort on Canon's part."

Nikon Coolpix P80 Review

Nikon P80NeoCamera have reviewed the new Nikon Coolpix P80 Ultra Zoom digital camera - it features a wide angle 18x optical zoom lens (27-486mm equivalent), 10 megapixel sensor, sensor-shift vibration reduction, 2.7" screen, ISO6400, 1cm macro mode, and Distortion control corrects for barrel distortion. The Nikon Coolpix P80 is available for £240:

"It is fun to have a stabilized wide-angle 18X optical zoom lens. It is even more fun when it fits in a coat pocket or small pouch. This is truly what the Nikon Coolpix P80 is about. While it performs reasonably in some areas, and the lens is good for such a long range, this ultra-zoom has image quality problems which are hard to ignore given the competition."

The camera is available for £350

"The Coolpix P6000 is Nikon's best attempt yet at a compact camera that's good enough for a pro photographer, but ultimately it has a few serious flaws that means it falls short. In terms of design, the P6000 is a delight to use, with most of the control offered by a consumer DSLR in a more manageable, portable form."

Nikon Coolpix S610c Review

Nikon Coolpix S610Trusted Reviews have reviewed the new Nikon Coolpix S610c. The camera features the world's fastest startup time for cameras of their class featuring a 28mm lens, and optical image stabilisation. It features a 10 megapixel sensor, a wide angle 4x optical zoom lens and wifi support and is available for £229:

"While the overall build quality is up to Nikon’s usual high standard, the design of the S610c has a number of niggling flaws that make it a less than satisfying camera to use. It lacks some useful features found on other models in the range, and the performance is nowhere near the claimed level. Picture quality is generally quite good, although image noise control is not as good as the cheaper S560."

Nikon Coolpix S560 Review

Nikon Coolpix S560Trusted Reviews have reviewed the new Nikon Coolpix S560 - the camera is the world's most compact 10 megapixel, 5x optical zoom camera with optical vibration reduction - it features a 2.7" screen, ISO3200 (at 3mp), face, smile and blink detection. The camera is available for £164

"Although it isn’t without a couple of niggling faults, the Nikon CoolPIx S560 is a very pleasing camera to use. It has excellent handling, superior build quality, good performance and image quality, and is small, light and robust enough to take anywhere. Where it really shines though is in its outstanding high-ISO picture quality. For £160 it is excellent value for money."

Nikon Coolpix S600 Review

Nikon S600Imaging Resource have reviewed the new 10 megapixel Nikon Coolpix S600 - it's part of their "Style" range - it features a wide angle 4x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, a 2.7" screen, and is available in Titanium Silver and Urban Black. The Nikon Coolpix S600 is available for £125

"The Coolpix S600 captures good-looking images under a variety of conditions, thanks to its range of preset Scene modes, and options like Face-Priority AF improve portraits. The Nikon S600's 10-megapixel CCD underperforms when compared to other sensors of this size, however, producing acceptable 11x14-inch images that actually look better printed at 8x10."

"The Nikon CoolPix P5100 is a small but worthwhile update of the P5000, and while it may not tempt owners of the previous model it is a good alternative to a point-and-shoot compact for anyone who wants a bit more creative photographic control. "The Nikon Coolpix S520 is aimed at people with a smaller budget who are looking for a simple, snapshot digital camera. The camera performed well in many areas and I like the colours it produces. Against that it struggled with my scenic shots and there was a noticeable delay in taking a picture."

Nikon Coolpix P80 Ultra Zoom Review

Nikon P80Trusted Reviews have reviewed the new Nikon Coolpix P80 Ultra Zoom digital camera - it features a wide angle 18x optical zoom lens (27-486mm equivalent), 10 megapixel sensor, sensor-shift vibration reduction, 2.7" screen, ISO6400, 1cm macro mode, and Distortion control corrects for barrel distortion. The Nikon Coolpix P80 is available for £215:

"As super-zoom bridge cameras go, the Nikon Coolpix P80 is okay, but there are reservations. While the handling is generally good and instinctual, it feels a bit of a lightweight and it's not the most responsive in the world. Image quality is average too, with good exposure and colour, but it's let down by fringing and noise."

"Still, the Nikon Coolpix P60 is indeed intuitive to use, delivers flattering results under most conditions and offers an outward air of sophistication that few models in its price bracket can muster. So, if you're in the market for an undemanding and relatively frill-free snapshot pocket camera, and given that our complaints are fairly minor and surmountable, it earns a PhotographyBLOG recommendation."

The Nikon Coolpix P80 is available for £233:

"Image and color quality are good, as is shutter lag, but AF acquisition times are average at best. ISO performance is typical for most cameras in the class. Continuous shooting rates at full resolution are typical; speedy rates are only available at reduced image sizes. Flash recycle times look to be average to slightly below average for the class."

Nikon Coolpix S550 Review

Nikon S550Photodoto have reviewed the new 10 megapixel Nikon Coolpix S550 - it's part of their "Style" range - it features a 5x optical zoom lens, a 2.5" screen, and is available in Titanium Silver, Urban Black and blue. The Nikon Coolpix S550 is available for £149

"Overall I would certainly recommend this camera to a friend, it’s a good all round camera with plenty of features for those who want to experiment or the option to just point and shoot for those who like to keep it simple. The battery charged quickly and has yet to require a re-charge, the LCD screen is a good size (2.5 inches diagonally) to see what you’re photographing, and the lack of sliders, knobs, or other twiddly bits means it’s a reasonably easy camera for someone like me with reduced fine motor skills to use."

"The CoolPix S550 is a likeable little camera, very simple to operate and producing good results in most normal situations. It is solidly made and sensibly designed, and has very good handling despite its small size. The 5x zoom range gives it greater versatility than typical pocket compacts, and the electronic vibration reduction helps to cope with the longer telephoto end."

The Nikon Coolpix P80 is available for £233:

"The Coolpix P80 is an excellent first attempt at a super-zoom camera by Nikon, but it's ultimately let down by image quality that is worse than some of its main rivals. Nikon have worked hard to ensure that the P80 is competing on a level playing field, and the P80 looks and feels very similar to the offerings from Olympus, Fujifilm and Panasonic, with a near-identical feature-set."

Nikon S600NeoCamera have reviewed the new 10 megapixel Nikon Coolpix S600 - it's part of their "Style" range - it features a wide angle 4x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, a 2.7" screen, and is available in Titanium Silver and Urban Black. The Nikon Coolpix S600 is available for £209

"Overall, this ultra-compact delivers a performance which is good on image quality but behind in terms of speed. Good sharpness and a fine noise pattern deliver quite usable images up to ISO 800. Beyond that, noise and noise-reduction destroys colors and details. Speed is on the slow side when we look at the most important aspects: shutter-lag, focusing and shot-to-shot speeds."

The Nikon Coolpix P80 is available for £234:

"The Nikon Coolpix P80 is a bit of a mixed bag. While loaded with appealing features like the 18x Nikkor zoom, 2.7-inch LCD, high resolution EVF, Vibration Reduction, High ISO capabilities and great image quality, the slower shooting performance, uncomfortable EVF eye piece, amount of noise in high sensitivity photos and slower Face detection system really disappointed us."
