General Imaging (GE) has announced the new GE E1486TW - the camera features a 14.1 megapixel sensor, a wide angle 8x optical zoom lens (28-224mm), 3.0" touch screen, ISO3200, HDTV out, pancapture, face detection, takes lithium-ion batteries, and will be available in black, red, and silver for $199.

General Imaging (GE) has announced the new GE A1255 - the budget camera features a 12.2 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom lens (35-175mm), 2.7" screen, ISO1600, pancapture, face detection, takes 2 AA batteries, and will be available in black, pink, and silver for $149.

General Imaging G3WP Compact Announced

GE has announced the GE G3WP - a waterproof digital camera with a 12 megapixel sensor, 4x optical zoom lens, 2.7" screen, ISO3200, panoramic mode, and red eye reduction.

Amazon UK are selling the new GE J1050 for £85. The budget camera features a 10 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom lens, 2.7" screen, ISO1600, Panoramic shooting, Smile, Blink, Face detection, digital image stabilisation, and 5cm macro mode:

GE E1040 Review Found Lurking...

It's been on my hard drive for about a year and a half, and I never got round to finishing it, but when I looked today, I realised it was only a paragraph away from completion, so I thought I may as well publish it... so here is our (extremetly late, and out of date) review of the GE E1040. The E1040 features a 10 megapixel sensor, a 4x optical zoom lens, a large 3" screen, digital anti-shake, high ISO settings upto 3200, face detection, 26mb of memory and a 30fps VGA video mode, and has since been replaced by a number of newer and better GE cameras.

"In the middle of 2007, GE (General Imaging) suddenly appeared from nowhere with a full range of digital cameras, inludeding the GE E1040. The GE E1040 is one of GE's top of the range 10 megapixel digital cameras, and features a 4x optical zoom lens, a large 3" screen, and face detection focus. The camera has the ability to take photos at upto ISO 3200, has digital anti-shake, panoramic stitching, and red-eye removal."

The touch-screen control system works well, and overall performance is better than expected, especially the autofocus system. Unfortunately it is let down by inferior image quality and the fact that you can’t see the monitor in daylight."

"The bottom line on the G2 is that it's a perfectly competent little camera so long as you stick to basic picture-taking situations, avoid the device's questionably functional gimmickry, and don't demand too much from the AF system. While its performance didn't tend to wow us, the same could be said for many of the cameras we test."
