"The Kodak EasyShare Z950 is that rarest of beasts, a beginner friendly digital camera with a budget price that nevertheless provides a fair amount of room to grow courtesy of a regular complement of manual controls and tweak-able settings. Kodak Easyshare M380 Review

Kodak M380Trusted Reviews have reviewed the new Kodak Easyshare M380 - featuring a 10MP sensor, 5x optical zoom, and 2.7” LCD, in a slim body design; available in black, red and teal for £110.

"The Kodak EasyShare M380 is a reasonably cheap camera considering its specification, but it’s far from being good value. Indifferent build quality, a very limited range of poorly implemented features, non-existent low light performance and shoddy image quality make it one to avoid."

Kodak Easyshare Z980 Review Online!

Kodak Z980

We've just uploaded our review of the new Kodak Easyshare Z980 - it features a 26mm wide angle 24x Optical Zoom Lens with optical image stabilisation, HD picture and video capture, Vertical shutter release and detachable vertical grip, for shooting scenes vertically, a hot shoe, 12 megapixel sensor, and 3" screen. The Kodak Easyshare Z980 is available for £298.

"The camera has another rare feature, the vertical shutter release, however this is made more awkward to use than necessary by having a manual switch to select which shutter is in use. Despite all of this, I actually found the camera quite enjoyable to use, it's responded quite quickly, had a screen (and EVF) that updated very quickly, which meant that you were able to capture the moment when photographing moving subjects. The huge optical zoom was also useful and managed to take some nice shots."

Kodak Easyshare Z915 Review

Kodak Easyshare Z915The Register have reviewed the new Kodak Easyshare Z915 - a compact 10x optical zoom digital camera, it features optical image stabilisation, 10 megapixel sensor, AA batteries, 2.5" screen, and will be available in red, blue, black and grey for £179 from May:

"When it comes to performance, there’s no doubt that the 10x optical zoom is a bonus, although its specification is disappointing at the wide angle end. However, the optical image stabilisation system ensures you get rock-steady images when shooting at the extreme end of the telephoto setting. We also liked the panoramic mode, which was easy to use, and stitches up to three images in-camera."

"For a low-priced camera the Koadk EasyShare M1093 IS is surprisingly well made with a decent specification, including an outstanding HD video mode. It is slim and fairly stylish, and can take a pretty good picture under most circumstances, but it is let down by a distinctly non-smart Smart Capture mode, weak flash and poor overall performance."

"Priced at just £80 the Kodak M893 IS stands out among other very cheap digital cameras because of its mechanical image stabilisation, but in most other respects you get what you pay for. Overall build quality and design are of a rather low standard, and while start-up and single-shot speeds are adequate, other aspects of the performance are quite poor, especially autofocus and low light capability."

"If you are looking for a camera with some extra zoom and are put off by size and complexity then the Easyshare Z8612 IS may provide the answer. Although much larger than a pocket camera the Easyshare Z8612 IS is smaller than most super zoom models. Despite the manual exposure controls on offer I also found the camera fairly straightforward. It is also one of the cheaper super zoom cameras."

"The Kodak EasyShare Z8612 IS may be relatively cheap for a long-zoom model, but its numerous shortcomings mean that it’s not particularly good value for money. Buying a Digital Camera for Children?

Kodak C613Photodoto have written an excellent guide on introducing your children to photography. They suggest starting off with an older 2 megapixel camera and seeing how it goes from there, if they like it, then move on to a better camera, such as the Kodak Easyshare C613 or C713 (£49 at Amazon).

"Don’t rush out and buy a new camera for your child’s first attempt. You’ve probably got an old camera somewhere, it doesn’t matter if it’s a film camera or an early digital camera with 2 MP, as long as it works it’ll do. If your child shows interest for more than a week or so then the chances are a new camera just for him will be used and appreciated."

My only concern with this is the the extending lens could be easily damaged, and while the Olympus 1030SW would survive rough treatment, it's price is a little too much for small kids. Are there any new cameras available that don't have an extending lens, but are still budget friendly?

"All this combines to ensure that the V1273 is our favourite Kodak for a while and a decent all round compact for someone looking to undertake the occasional bit of video work. Only the rather tricky touch-screen interface lets the package down, and if you persevere with that, get used to it, and operate it more confidently, then we're sure this Kodak will grow on you."

Kodak Easyshare Z1012 IS Review

Kodak Z1012 ISDigital Camera Info have reviewed the new Kodak Easyshare Z1012 IS - a 10 megapixel camera, it features a 12x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, ISO upto 3200, full manual mode, face detection, and a 2.5" screen. The camera is available from £199:

"Overall, the Kodak Z1012 IS usually succeeds in producing nice pictures, but some parts of the camera just get in the way. At the end of the day for me, judging a camera comes down to its ability to produce a good image. On this score, this camera is generally a success."
