"The PowerShot G11 produces very good quality photos. Canon claimed that the G11 and its new "high sensitivity" CCD would perform better at low light than other cameras in its class, and they weren't lying. While it certainly won't replace a digital SLR, the G11 lets you use sensitivities a full stop higher than your typical compact camera. If you shoot RAW and do some basic post-processing, even ISO 1600 photos (taken in good light) are usable for small prints."

Canon Powershot G11 Announced

Canon has announced the new Canon Powershot G11 - it features a wide angle 5x optical zoom lens (28 - 140mm), with optical image stabilisation, 2.8" twist screen with 461k pixels, 10 megapixel sensor, 1cm macro, VGA 30fps video, ISO3200. The 10 megapixel sensor and new DIGIC 4 essor allows better low light performance with lower noise. The G11 will be available in October 2009 priced at £569.00

"My first results were good, no issues, no problems. The lens did at times seem a little slow to me. As soon as you zoom a little you lose that 2.8 and most of my shots had to be taken at F4.5 or smaller. I have to be honest here. I MUCH prefer the little F2 lens in the Leica D-Lux 4 and if Canon comes out with a G11 they should add HD video and put in a faster lens."

"The Canon PowerShot SX200 IS is a very capable and compact ultra zoom camera. It offers very good photo quality, a 28 - 336 mm lens, a nice combination of automatic and manual controls, a large LCD, and a HD movie mode. It's not perfect though; it has a weak, slow-to-charge flash, battery life is below average, and you can't zoom while recording a movie mode. Despite that, the PowerShot SX200 is a good choice for a travel camera, and it earns my recommendation."

"The Canon SX110 IS manages to pack an optically stabilized 10x zoom lens into a relatively compact body, but its image quality still competes very well with that of full-sized long-zoom cameras. In high ISO shooting, it gives up a little ground to Canon's own SX10 IS, which uses a more powerful version of Canon's DIGIC processor, but the Canon SX110 IS's more compact body is much easier to pack along on outings and trips."
