Pentax K7

Photocrati has reviewed the new Pentax K7 Digital SLR – the new weather resistant camera features a 14.6mp sensor with HD video recording at 720p, HDMI output, AF assist, electronic level, HDR mode, 5.2fps shooting and 3″ live view screen. The camera is available from Amazon UK body only:

“The flagship of the Pentax DLSR series, the K-7 is an unusually rugged semi-professional 14.5 MP camera that’s built like a tank: with a splash-proof magnesium alloy body over a stainless steel chassis. While the 14.5 megapixel K20D is less pricey, the K-7 is even more desirable. This newer model retains all of the K20D’s best features but provides significant benefits: faster (5.2 fps) drive speed, larger 3″ LCD with 920,000 dot resolution, a viewfinder with 100% coverage, plus upgrades for the sensor, processor, autofocus system, built-in image stabilizer and evaluative metering (now with 77 zones).”

Pentax K-X DSLR

Photography BLOG has reviewed the new Pentax K-x Digital SLR – with “100 colours, 100 styles” it features different body and grip colours (in Japan), a 12.4mp CMOS sensor, sensor shift image stabilisation, dust reduction, 2.7″ live view screen, 11 point AF, ISO6400, RAW, HDR (combining 3 photos), 1,280 x 720 (16:9 aspect ratio) 24fps video, 4.7fps shooting, SD card support and takes AA batteries. The camera is available for £599 with 18-55mm kit lens.

“The Pentax K-x is a new mid-range digital SLR that combines the compact body and simple operation of the entry-level K-m camera with some of the advanced features of the prosumer K-7 model. The 12.4 megapixel Pentax Kx offers an uncluttered design that is particularly well-suited to compact camera owners looking to make the step-up to a DSLR whilst featuring the same 11-point wide-frame AF system with 9 cross sensors and 2 line sensors as the K-7. In addition to Live View, the Pentax K-x also joins the growing list of DSLR cameras that can record video, with a best quality setting of 1280×720 pixels at 30fps.”

Pentax K7

NeoCamera have reviewed the new Pentax K7 Digital SLR – the new weather resistant camera features a 14.6mp sensor with HD video recording at 720p, HDMI output, AF assist, electronic level, HDR mode, 5.2fps shooting and 3″ live view screen. The camera is available from Amazon UK body only:

“Exposure is good with the K-7, specially with subjects that fall within the camera’s wide dynamic range. When a subject has more contrast than the K-7 can capture, it tends to overexpose by half a stop or so. This is the way to facilitate printing of unmodified images but for a more natural look, negative exposure-compensation may be needed.”

“The Pentax K-7 is the best-ever Pentax DSLR camera and a real challenger to the relative giants of Canon and Nikon. Pentax have seemingly decided to include every “must-have” feature in one camera, with the K-7’s specifications reading like a keen photographer’s wish list. Thankfully most of those features are very well-realised, with only a few duds to spoil the party. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to the older K20D, the new K-7 improves on its sibling in a lot of ways that add up to make it a really compelling DSLR camera. The combination of 100% viewfinder coverage and large, high-res LCD screen make the K-7 a joy to use in terms of image composition.”
