Panasonic Lumix TZ27

HotUKDeals recently posted details of an offer on the Panasonic Lumix TZ27 – available from Currys – it appears to be based on last years Panasonic Lumix TZ30 – but lacking the GPS feature. This year, the new models are called the TZ35 and TZ40. The TZ27 is still an interesting camera, with a 14 megapixel MOS sensor, 20x optical zoom lens, 3inch screen, full HD video recording, 260 shot battery life, and it’s available for £159.

The nearest competitors for a price comparison are the Panasonic Lumix TZ30 – available from Amazon UK for £210, which adds GPS.

Panasonic Lumix S5
ePHOTOzine has reviewed the compact and budget priced Panasonic Lumix S5 – with a curved compact body it looks a lot like a bar of soap – and is available in a number of colours for around £80. It features a 16 megapixel sensor, 4x optical zoom lens and optical image stabilisation. Here’s what they had to say about it:

“The Panasonic Lumix DMC-S5 is a budget camera that has Optical Image Stabilisation and auto panorama stitching, two features you don’t often see on cameras in this price range. It is easy to use and image quality is good.”

Panasonic Lumix GH3There are two new reviews of the Panasonic Lumix GH3, and currently the only full reviews of the new premium camera from Panasonic. You can find the reviews at ePHOTOzine, and Photography BLOG. The Panasonic Lumix GH3 is a weather sealed Micro Four Thirds camera with Digital SLR styling (Panasonic call it a DSLM), and it features Full HD video at up to 50 and 72mbps, with stereo sound. There is a tilting 3 inch touch screen on the back as well as a 1.744million dot EVF.

Here’s what ePHOTOzine had to say about the camera:

“Where the GH3 really excels in video recording… with all the options under the sun, with AVCHD, MOV or MP4 recording up to 50 and 72mbps full HD, with stereo sound, mic and headphone sockets as well as HDMI out for continuous recording on an external device.”

Here’s what Photography BLOG had to say:

“The GH3’s still image quality is much improved, especially the high ISO performance. Images shot at ISO 125-1600 are clean, with a little noise appearing at 3200 and more at the still very usable setting of 6400.”

Olympus OM-D E-M5 BlackYou can view full size sample photos (and RAW images) from the Panasonic Lumix GH3 on ePHOTOzine here, and you can compare them to the Olympus OM-D E-M5 on ePHOTOzine here.
