Panasonic Lumix FT3 GPS

The Panasonic Lumix FT3 will be available in blue or red, on the 14th of March from Amazon UK.

“The LUMIX DMC-FT3, is specially geared for active outdoor use, incorporating more powerful features in an even more rugged design. Every aspect of the 12.1-megapixel FT3 has been toughened and it is waterproof to a depth of 12m and dustproof equivalent to the “IPX8” and “IPX6” standard. Thanks to rubber padding and reinforced glass resins inside the camera, the FT3 features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand. The built-in GPS function, compass, altimeter and barometer are all newly incorporated and add further to the camera’s versatility and usability as an outdoor tool.

The LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens on the FT3 has a folded optics design and boasts not only a high quality image but also rugged design. Starting at the 28mm wide angle, and zooming up to a useful 4.6x in telephoto, this camera gives you flexibility in many shooting conditions — especially underwater, where movement is often restricted and the angle of view becomes important for composing your shots.

A newly developed 12.1-megapixel Hi-Speed CCD sensor is at the heart of the DMC-FT3 which is capable of the high-speed, large-capacity signal processing required for 1920 x 1080 full-HD movie recording in AVCHD as well as high speed continuous shooting. The advanced image processing LSI, Venus Engine FHD, assures high picture quality in both photo and movie recording. Intelligent Resolution technology performs optimum signal processing to give the whole image outstandingly natural clarity with fine detail. The powerful 4.6x optical zoom increases its power to 6x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function taking advantage of the Intelligent Resolution technology maintaining the picture quality even when using digital zoom. The Sonic Speed AF and a quick start-up time give the DMC-FT3 a high speed response that helps to catch even the most fleeting photo opportunities.”

Olympus Tough TG-610 Back

“You don’t have to take an OLYMPUS TOUGH TG-610 outside to appreciate it’s outstanding build and image quality – but it’s outside that the technology really comes into its own. Whether it’s the local pool or a tropical reef, the Automatic Underwater White Balance feature optimises settings like white balance to deliver Cousteau-like shots of life beneath the waves. This high-resolution, ultra scratch-resistant display delivers beautifully bright and clear images that are a joy to share – even in direct sunlight. A special layer in the LCD cuts down reflection for better visibility, so it’s easier to frame, review and share movies and stills. An impressive optical zoom is another bonus in the open air. For those close-ups that make action shots special, the TG-610 comes with a 5x wide optical zoom (28-140mm). Of course, both models are packed with the features that make every Olympus camera easier than ever to use, from Dual Image Stabilisation for reducing blur to Face Detection, Intelligent Auto Mode (i-Auto) and AF Tracking. “
