Fujifilm FinePix X100 front
ePHOTOzine has reviewed the new Fujifilm FinePix X100. We had a look at the Fujifilm FinePix X100 prototype, at Photokina 2010. The lens offers a focal length of 23mm (135 equivalent: 35mm) and a widest aperture of F2, 12mp APS-C sensor, hybrid optical and electronic viewfinder, 720p HD video with stereo sound and full manual controls.

“The Fujifilm FinePix X100 is a unique camera in an increasingly competitive category. For a long time the difference in image quality between compact cameras with small sensors, and Digital SLRs with much larger sensors has been well known. The Fujifilm FinePix X100 aims to bring the image quality of a large sensor to a smaller camera, and should also bring the speed of DSLRs with it. Thankfully Fujifilm has delivered both excellent image quality with extremely low noise levels, as well as high speed performance, such as 5fps shooting, quick focusing, and extremely quick shutter response.”

Fujifilm FinePix X100 front
Fujifilm has announced the release date for the Fujifilm FinePix X100 – March 2011. We had a look at the Fujifilm FinePix X100 prototype, at Photokina 2010. The lens offers a focal length of 23mm (135 equivalent: 35mm) and a widest aperture of F2, 12mp APS-C sensor, and hybrid optical and electronic viewfinder.

“The X100 has been designed to appeal to the millions of DSLR users who need a slim, back-up camera, for high quality, in-fill shots, when the use of a bigger SLR system is either inconvenient or impractical. Alternatively, it can be used as a professional’s only top-end camera, if size and versatility are the primary considerations.”

Fujifilm FinePix X100 top

“In order to suit its role, the FinePix X100 has been designed without compromise, adopting the highest possible quality lens and sensor combination with a fixed, prime F2 lens, manufactured by Fujinon to perfectly match the full size 12.3 megapixel APS-C custom sensor. Fujifilm has also developed new technology for the X100 to ensure a unique user experience. This includes the first hybrid viewfinder, which combines an electronic viewfinder system and the window-type ‘bright frame’ optical viewfinder, normally found in high-end film cameras. Launch date: Spring 2011.”

Fujifilm FinePix X100 back

Fujifilm (X100 mini-site) has announced the new Fujifilm FinePix X100 – with 12.3 Megapixel APS-C (DSLR size) CMOS sensor – 23mm f2.0 lens (35mm equivalent) – and hybrid electronic and optical viewfinder, it features metal dials, lens aperture ring, magnesium alloy body, leather like finish, 10cm macro, RAW mode, EXR processor, manual shutter and aperture controls, it should be available early 2011.
The electronic viewfinder has 1.44 million pixels, and you can switch between the optical and electronic viewfinder. DPReview has more details.
