Casio has announced the new Casio Exilim ZS10 (above), and Casio Exilim ZS5 (below), both cameras feature a 14 megapixel sensor, wide angle 5x optical zoom lens, 2.7″ screen, and USB charging. The EX-ZS10 features 720p video and will be available in black, silver, red, pink and blue, and will ship in March 2011 for $119.99.

“The new EX-ZS10 and EX-ZS5 offer a number of high-performance features which are typically not found in entry-level compact digital cameras, including 14.1 megapixel resolution and 26mm wide-angle lenses with generous 5x optical zooms. What’s more is that with the EX-ZS10, users can record their memories in high‑definition as the camera offers 720p HD video. The EX-ZS5 features VGA video recording at a resolution of 640×480.“Because of their price points, consumers don’t expect much from entry-level compact cameras,” said Toshi Iguchi, Senior General Manager, Digital Imaging Division, Casio America Inc. “It’s an unfortunate mindset that Casio is looking to break with the new EX-ZS10 and EX‑ZS5. Panasonic TZ8

Panasonic has announced the new Panasonic Lumix TZ8 / ZS5 – an update to the TZ6 – it features a metal body available in a number of colours (silver and black), and has a 25mm 12x optical zoom lens (25 – 300mm), 12 megapixel sensor, 2.7″ screen, aperture priority, 720p video, and optical image stabilisation. The TZ8 is available for £199:
