Ricoh GX100LetsGoDigital have posted sample photos from the new Ricoh GX100 – a compact 10 megapixel update to the Ricoh Caplio GX8 – it features an ultra-wide angle 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to 24 – 72mm, a 2.5″ screen, CCD-shift vibration correction feature, 1cm macro, ISO upto 1600, 380 shot battery life and a removable LCD viewfinder. The Ricoh Caplio GX100 will be available at the end of April for £399:

“We have had the new Ricoh Caplio GX100 camera in the office for some days and visited the Keukenhof in Lisse, the Netherlands, to shoot some test images. The Ricoh GX100 was introduced in March 2007 and is like its predecessor – the Ricoh Caplio GX8 – an unique digital compact camera. The Ricoh Caplio GX100 is equipped with a ten Megapixel CCD image sensor, a f/2.5 bright zoom lens with a focal range of 24 – 70mm. Additional the beautiful wide-angle of 24mm can be expanded via the optional Ricoh DW-6 wide-angle converter. With it, it becomes a 19mm super wide-angle!”

Ricoh GX100

Ricoh have announced the new Ricoh GX100 – a compact 10 megapixel update to the Ricoh Caplio GX8 – it features an ultra-wide angle 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to 24 – 72mm, a 2.5″ screen, CCD-shift vibration correction feature, 1cm macro, ISO upto 1600, 380 shot battery life and a removable LCD viewfinder. The Ricoh Caplio GX100 will be available at the end of April for £399:

“Frame every scene as you like with the 24-72mm wide zoom lens featuring F2.5~F9.1 (Wide-angle) and F4.4~F15.8 (Telephoto) aperture settings. Stretch the perspective at wide angles or bring subjects into sharp focus at up to 3x zoom. The uniquely configured lens compensates for wideangle distortion, an issue with lesser cameras, to suppress chromatic aberration and edge light falloff. So high resolution and contrast reach to the very corners of your photos. A macro mode is also provided for capturing subjects as close as 1cm from the lens at the 24mm setting (4cm at 72mm setting).”

Fuji X-E2The Fuji X-E2 recently launched with a unique 16 megapixels APS-C sensor that uses Fuji’s own X-Trans 6×6 color-pattern to avoid artifacts without the need of an anti-alias filter. Version II of this sensor, which is used in the X-E2 and X100S, also offers Phase-Detect autofocus, allowing the X-E2 to boast the fasted AF performance in its class.

Fuji X-E2 Review

A detailed review of the X-E2 just got published at Neocamera. Like all their reviews, this one clearly explains the capability, usability and performance of the X-E2, comparing it detail-by-detail with its predecessor, the highly acclaimed Fuji X-E1. Sony Cyber-shot R1

The Sony Cyber-shot R1 was the World’s first APS-C CMOS sensor fixed lens camera released in 2005, it also provided the first “live view” of any APS-C / Large sensor camera, meaning it could display the output on the 2inch LCD or electronic viewfinder. It features a 10.3 megapixel sensor, ISO160-3200, and was priced at $999 US / £699 UK (inc VAT). Similar Digital SLRs were the Canon EOS 350D with an 8 megapixel APS-C sensor and ISO100-1600, and the Nikon D70, with a 6 megapixel sensor and ISO200 to ISO1600.

Sony Cyber-shot R1 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* Lens

The lens is a 5x optical zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* with f/2.8-f/4.8 aperture and the equivalent zoom of 24mm to 120mm, providing both a useful wide-angle lens and a decent amount of zoom. Click more below to continue reading…
